Thoughts

Carol, you’ve been part of our family for so long. We were all of us so young when Kelvin first brought you to mum and dad’s and you were introduced, funny to think we were strangers then. An attractive, brown curly haired young woman, confident and chatty. I remember you sitting on Kelvin’s lap, arms wrapped around him. It wasn’t long before you were married. The morning of your wedding day I’ll never forget, dashing to the nearest boutique shop with mum and Carolyn, trying to find Carolyn an outfit because she’d forgotten her suitcase! You and Kelvin were blissfully unaware of the stress of our morning! The wedding was lovely, a gorgeous sunny day up in the beautiful Yorkshire dales. You looked radiant, and Kelvin and dad so smart in their grey top hat and tails! You became part of our family, and our families grew . There was great sadness when your first baby Lucy died. Later great joy, when Nick and Alex were born. The cousins had wonderful times together, especially when they came to stay at mum and dad’s through the summer. Happy memories! Our families grew up together. Just before you became ill, I met you in London. It was a beautiful sunny day. We met on the South bank and had lunch with Kelvin. After, we walked miles, you showed me all your favourite places. We had Presseco late afternoon at the Oxo building and took photos. We chatted, as only long familiarity allows. I’m so grateful to have the memory, and shall remember you like this. You will be so very much missed. Lots of love, rest in peace Ali xxx
