Louise and Michael Carmi
Words are not enough ..... Carol , a dear friend for nearly 40 years. We started our Health Visitors course together in the early '80's and Carol worked for a while in Edmonton before moving to work at Sure Start in Camden. Ever professional, sharing skills end expertise, supporting countless families. Calm Carol - supporting parents with hypnobirthing and Havening . Carol attended and supported almost every UK Havening Training and Practise Group since we started in 2014, again sharing skills, supporting new practitioners , demonstrating how to change lives...Classy Carol - always simply elegant, who, when I went on my first big cruise came for lunch and brought with her a suitcase of her posh clothes and encouraged me to smarten up by wearing them, and helping me feel more 'proper'. Carol always felt more like a family member to me, great at problem solving , imaginative, sensible, and fun. Courageous Carol - continuing to be the positive , and precious friend in the face of the terrible diagnosis, crippling results of surgery and less than perfect support from services - and was able at times to be Challenging Carol to be clear and make the wayward practitioners / carers think about the effect of what they were doing and not doing. I remember in one of the National Hospital visits, when Carol had been having tube feeds - she had nothing by mouth except mouthwash, for many weeks, I tentatively squeezed a few drops of ripe satsuma juice onto her lips , her face lit up, she licked her lips, and had another tiny taste and she said ' I feel as if I have been reborn'.. It was astonishing that our dear friend found the energy and will to face the incredible odds . Only Kelvin and boys truly know how challenging and exhausting some of the times have been and how amazingly strong they all have had to be in Carol keeping with us for as long as she was able. We miss her and mourn her passing.
